about the speaker
For thirty years, Lea has been lucky enough to have worked for and partnered with some of the most respected individuals and creative organisations in Australia, Britain and the United States. She spent the first 14 years of her career in the Account Management departments of Leo Burnett Sydney and Chicago before joining Fallon London, where she departed as Head of Account Management after two UK Agency of the Year wins.
Lea pivoted into talent in 2010 and after a few years of building out a Creative Recruitment capability for Hourigan International, she took on the Director of Recruitment remit with Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Oregon. She started Mrs Walker in 2018 to offer independent and bespoke Talent Consultation to Agencies and Marketing Departments. Her clients have extended to 17 cities around the world so far and include the likes of Mother, BBH, BBDO, TBWA, Google, Droga, 72andSunny, Special, Apple and The New York Times.
She currently also sits on the AWARD Council in Australia and is the Founding Talent Partner of Bear Meets Eagle on Fire.

For a few years, the industry talked constantly about inclusion and representation. Then a changing market meant tighter budgets and the disappearance of risk tolerance. And suddenly, many of the same old patterns returned.
This session looks at why meaningful diversity in directing still feels fragile in Australia, and what actually needs to change beyond performative statements and good intentions.
