Previously Generalist Supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic Singapore where he was Lead on the VES winning series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Sam Schwier is currently Heckler Singapore’s CG Lead.
Sam moved from London to Asia in 2008 to help set up the Double Negative Singapore office, hiring and training over a hundred VFX artists. Passionate about creating photorealistic visual effects that wow audiences and bring the magic of movies to life, he has worked on an impressive line-up of blockbusters, including the iconic series Star Trek, The Avengers, and Harry Potter, and in various capacities: from driving character look development to spending months on set and on location supervising shoots. At Heckler, Sam has directed and supervised campaigns for various agencies including Forsman & Bodenfors Singapore, Publicis, We are Social, Saatchi & Saatchi Europe for global brands including Riot Games, Greenpeace, Samsung, Lenor and SK-II to name a few.
His fascination with the intersection of technology and art was initially ignited by the groundbreaking music videos of Chris Cunningham whose eerie, futuristic landscapes, innovative use of CGI and experimental approach to storytelling are influences in Sam’s work.
